Thrips coloratus Schmutz, 1913
This species distributed throughout Japan and it is one of the most common species in Japan. It is polyphagous and occurs on many kinds of he plants. Female is bicoloured in yellow and brown, but male is uniformly pale. The fore wings are shaded in pale brown but slightly pale at base, and become paler at shaded area in slide-mounted specimen. In male, this species can be distinguished from T. hawaiiensis by only position of the metascutal median pair of setae, which is behind anterior margin. This species widely distributed in the Oriental region and Australia.
